COPYRIGHT RULES, 1958

CHAPTER I - PRELIMINARY

 

1.    Short title, extent and commencement.

1. (1)These rules may be called the Copyright Rules, 1958.

(2)They extend to the whole of India.

(3)They shall come into force on the date on which the Act comes into force.2

2.    Interpretation. 

2. In these rules, unless the context otherwise requires,-

(a) "Act" means the Copyright Act, 1957 (14 of 1957);

3[(aa) "copyright business" means the business of issuing or granting licence in respect of any class of works in which copyright or any other right conferred by the Act subsists, and includes the functions referred to in sub-section (3) of section 34;]

(b) "Form" means a form set out in the First Schedule;

(c) "Schedule" means Schedule to these rules; and

(d) "Section" means a section of the Act.
